Robert Marvin King

Alamosa resident Robert Marvin King, 74 passed away July 5, 2023 in the family home. Robert, better known to all as “Bob or Bobby” was born to Edward Anthony and Ruth Marie King, on August 27, 1948 in Oakland, California. He is reunited with his parents Edward Anthony King and Ruth Marie King, his daughter Brooke Amanda King, his sister Sandra Lynn King and his beautiful, loving wife Cindy King. Along with numerous other family members. Bob was a wonderful loving husband, dad, poppy, father-in- law, brother, uncle and friend. Bob has a remarkable ability to connect with people by effortlessly bringing smiles to their faces. His unique sense of humor was a source of joy and comfort for those that were fortunate enough to know him. Whether it was a witty remark, a funny story, or a good joke, Bob had a way of brightening even on the darkest days. Beyond his remarkable sense of humor that will be missed by many, Bob had numerous hobbies that brought him joy. He loved spending time playing cards, board games, solitaire on his computer and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed going to the stores to shop and people watch, but nothing brought Bob more joy than watching his daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law play sports. He was their biggest fan cheering them on with unwavering support and pride. Bob’s love for his family knew no bounds and the happiness on their faces brought him immeasurable joy. Robert is survived by his daughter Brandy (Benji) Trujillo of Alamosa, CO, granddaughter Brooke Trujillo of Alamosa, CO, brother’s Mike (Janie) King of Concord, CA, Edward King of Concord, CA, his sister’s Cheri (Rick) Blanton of San Lorenzo, CA, Toni Garica, Concord, CA, Kathy (Tom) Henderson Concord, CA, Judy (Mike) Hubert, Cottonwood, CA Terrie (Bob) Krummen, Concord, CA, Patti (Mike) Mayorga, Concord, CA, Edith (Lee) Ward, Redding, CA, Laurie Odriscoll, Pittsburgh, CA sister- in- laws Connie (Melvin) DeHerrera of Alamosa, CO, Janice (Charlie) Griego of Alamosa, CO. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was a courageous hero who devoted 9 active years of his life to serve his Country with honor. He served two tours in the Vietnam War, a tour in Germany and Korea and finished out his military career in Fort Carson, CO. He displayed incredible bravery and dedication, earning numerous awards for his valor and service. He was the recipient of several distinguished awards (National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign w/60 Device, Armed Force Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm 3 Overseas Service Bars, an Aircraft Crewman Badge, a Purple Heart and many more). On August 11, 1977 Bob received an honorable discharge and went on to live out the rest of his life cherishing moments with his loved ones. He belonged to the American Legion Post 113 of Alamosa, Dickey Springer Building Committee and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 899. He was the post Commander of the American Legion Post 113 and he had the honors of being elected the Grand Marshal. While we mourn the loss of Bob, we also celebrate the incredible person he was and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be missed by the multitude of lives he touched. A viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 11th 2023 at 1:00 pm at the River of Life Assembly Church in Alamosa, CO. Inurnment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.
