Genevieve Anita Maestas October 18, 1963 – September 5, 2026 With profound sadness and loving remembrance, the family of Genevieve Anita Maestas, age 62, announces her peaceful passing on September 5, 2026, at her home in San Luis, Colorado. Surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, Genevieve departed this life in the place she called home, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will forever carry her in their hearts. Genevieve was born on October 18, 1963, in San Luis, Colorado, to Donald Rodriguez and Clorinda Quintana Rodriguez. Raised in the community she would continue to call home throughout her life, Genevieve developed strong roots in San Luis and, most importantly, a deep love and devotion for her family. Genevieve was a woman who found her greatest happiness in the people she loved. Spending time with her family was one of the most important parts of her life. Whether it was a simple visit, a family gathering, sharing laughter and stories, or enjoying time with her children and grandchildren, those moments meant the world to her. Her presence brought warmth and familiarity to those around her, and the memories created together will now serve as treasured reminders of the love she shared. Anyone who knew Genevieve also knew how much she enjoyed gambling and how proudly she supported her beloved Denver Broncos. She enjoyed cheering on her team and sharing that enthusiasm with those around her. These simple pleasures were part of what made Genevieve uniquely herself and will bring smiles to her family's faces as they remember the many good times they shared with her. Above all else, Genevieve's greatest legacy is her family. She loved deeply, and the relationships she built throughout her life were among her greatest blessings. Her children and grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. The love, laughter, lessons, and memories she gave them will continue to live on for generations. Genevieve is survived by her loving husband, Adrian A. Maestas; her daughter, Adrianna J. Maestas (Angelina Espinoza) of San Luis, Colorado; and her son, Jerry D. (Nicole) Maestas of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Joann (Cornelio) Arellano of San Luis, Colorado, Grace (Xavier) Serna of San Luis, Colorado, Lorraine (Patrick) Gallegos of San Luis, Colorado, and Jeanette Rodriguez of San Luis, Colorado; and her brothers, Cipriano (Bertha) Rodriguez of Denver, Colorado, Michael (Paulette) Montano of Denver, Colorado, Tino Rodriguez of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Gerald (Peggy) Rodriguez of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Genevieve's memory will live especially close to the hearts of her beloved grandchildren, Aria Maestas, Adrianne Espinoza Maestas, and Avary Espinoza Maestas, who brought tremendous love and happiness into her life. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Debra Santomauro and Diedre Maestas, as well as numerous extended family members, friends, and loved ones who were fortunate enough to share in her life. Genevieve was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Donald and Clorinda Rodriguez; her brothers, Tom Rodriguez, George Rodriguez, and Garry Rodriguez; her sisters, MaryAnn Vigil and Louise Rodriguez; and her mother- and father-in-law, Phil and Gloria Maestas. She now joins those loved ones who went before her, while leaving behind a family strengthened by the love and memories they shared. Genevieve's passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express, but her life will be remembered for so much more than the sadness of her departure. She will be remembered through the laughter she shared, the family gatherings she enjoyed, the Broncos games she cheered for, and the countless ordinary moments that have now become extraordinary memories. Her family takes comfort in knowing that during her final moments, Genevieve was surrounded by those she loved most and peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave throughout her life remains. Her memory will continue to be spoken of, celebrated, and carried forward by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, and everyone whose life she touched. A Rosary will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Parish, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass at San Isidro Cemetery in San Pablo, Colorado, where Genevieve will be laid to rest.
