It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son,father, grandson, brother, nephew, and friend DavidLee Juan Martinez. He was called home at the young age of 32. DavidLee was welcomed into the world on June 8, 1991, the son of David L. Martinez and Kerin Duran. In his free time DavidLee loved to be outdoors, going hiking, fishing, writing poems and listening to music. David Lee loved to spend time with his family and friends. DavidLee’s family wanted to share his story of struggle with addiction and substance abuse in the hopes that anyone else going through the same battle as him knows they are not alone. They hope that this tragedy will impact the lives of others to help them get back to a life of happiness without substances, So that no other families have to get the call David Lee’s family got on May 2nd, that shattered their hearts and changed their lives forever. David Lee’s time with us was not long enough. We will forever be grateful and cherish the memories and love he left with us while he was here. DavidLee will live on through his parents Kerin Duran of Los Pinos, NM; David L. Martinez of Alamosa, CO; one daughter Philecia Martinez , brothers Carlos Martinez (Shreya Bhaskare), Victor Cardona, maternal grandfather Lipio Duran of Los Pinos, NM; godmother Angela Duran, aunts and uncles Medardo (Diana) Martinez of Denver, CO; Elizabeth Abeyta of La Jara, CO; Virgil Martinez of Denver, CO; Kathy and Julian of Denver, CO; Angie and Gene of Alamosa, CO; Danny Martinez of La Jara, CO. His also survived by numerous cousins and friends. DavidLee was preceded in death by his grandparents Candie Duran, Medardo I. Martinez, Nicolasa Martinez, uncles George Martinez, Max Martinez, Carlos Martinez and John Martinez. Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 10-12 PM at the Door Christian Fellowship Church in Alamosa. Celebration of Life will follow at 12:30 PM.
