Richard Adolf Valdez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Colorado Springs, (former Alamosa resident) Richard Adolf Valdez 92, gained his angel wings on the 11th of July, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Richard was welcomed into the world on November 10, 1929 to the late Amadeo Valdez and Isabel Vigil Valdez. After graduating High School and attending college he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his return he married and had two lovely daughters. Later in life, he married Cecilia Maestas on April 24, 1970 and welcomed her five wonderful children into his life. Richard was a long time Insurance Agent and very well known around the San Luis Valley and southern Colorado. Richard was very involved in the Elks, loved bowling and shooting pool. He also enjoyed running and traveling but his favorite was the quality time he spent with his loving family. Richard is survived by his lovely wife Cecilia Valdez, four daughters; Kay (Dan) Noble -Colo Springs, CO, Karen (Robert Postovit) Valdez -Brighton, CO, Rebecca (Mike) Becker -New Hampshire, Melissa (Rich) Feather -Austin, TX, two sons; Mick Lucero -Grants, NM, Edward (Kay Phan) Lucero -Colorado Springs, CO, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and one brother Jim (Laverne) Valdez. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, one son - Joey Lucero, sisters Eileen Herrera, Jean Maestas and brother Billy Valdez whom gained his wings on the same day. Richard will be dearly missed by all. There will be a rosary on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Alamosa, CO.
