Ricardo Leonardo Vazquez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Garcia resident Ricardo Leonardo Vazquez, 80, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2022. He passed away peacefully at Penrose Medical Center in the company of his loving family. Born on October 10, 1941 in :Leadville, the beloved son of Bernabe Vasquez and Anita DeHerrera. After he graduated high school, Ricardo went on to enlist and serve in the United States Air Force. He put in his 20 years and was able to retire from the Air Force as well. Being retired gave Ricardo lots of free time to enjoy life. His pride and joy and most cherished time came from being able to spend time with his son and grandson. Survivors include his son Donnie (Arabella) Vazquez of Garcia, CO; grandson Alexander Vazquez of Garcia, CO; sisters Shirley Lopez of Antonito, CO; Dorothy (Jorge) Piedra of New Mexico, Judy Thompson of West Alco, TX. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends. Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents Bernabe and Anita Vasquez, wife Mary Estrella Vazquez, brothers Aggie, Henry, Manuel Vasquez, two sisters Maddie Rodriguez and Lucy Garcia. Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 AM both at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis.
