April 23, 2005 - October 4, 2018
Renee Summer Phelps, 13 , of Alamosa, Colorado, left her earthly home which was too small to contain such a deep and amazing soul as hers, and flew away with the wings of an angel to guide us and watch over us from above with her beloved grandfather and uncle. Renee made her grand entrance into the world with much awaited anticipation on April 23, 2005; the daughter and baby girl of Leah T. (Hamilton) Phelps and Christopher Bryan Phelps. She will always be cherished by her maternal grandmother Diana Hamilton forever and has joined her maternal grandfather Tom Hamilton in heaven. She will always be loved by her paternal grandparents Carl and Debra Phelps. Renee was absolutely adored by her uncle's Clay Hamilton, Joseph Phelps and Matthew Phelps. Renee also joins her uncle Aaron Phelps in heaven. Her aunts Shannon Hamilton and Lara Ash loved her so much, that it has become a memory of laughter and joy even in times of pain and sorrow. She also had many extended family members that loved her dearly and family friends that were just as close as any other blood family member who helped shape her into the beautiful young lady she became; you all know who you are. They loved and celebrated her life for who she was and who they hoped she would become one day. Renee's presence and influence in this world was so great that she even left a lasting impression on so many children that loved her no matter what and will miss her dearly; Her cousin on her mother's side, Bennett Hamilton. Peyton and Tyler Bowers and Tristan and Levi Compton on her father's side. Other kindred spirits who loved and cared for Renee are Shea and Anna Chavez-Miller, Sofia, McKyle, and Alicia Murdock who saw the light in Renee's spirit. This could also be seen in the compassion and empathy found in her peers who immediately reached out to show support to Renee's family. They are a strong and kind generation that will create a better world than other generation's before them. Renee was such a beautiful soul on this earthly plane. She had such a sharp wit to her that both were intelligent and sarcastic at the same time. She also had an amazing innocent humor. Her mother can recall Renee singing Christmas carols in July which she liked to call R-Tunes. She loved the rain in the summer for which she was named after. While other's cringed at the idea of snow, Renee relished the idea of the first snow to be seen. She loved the stars for their infinate wisdom. Renee was fondly referred to as the dog whisperer and could often be seen comforting a scared or abused dog, who would be completely transformed the next day by her unconditional love. Renee loved reading and had many books she would lose herself in. Her favorite books were the Throne of Glass series and the Harry Potter Series. Renee had such an open minded view about how she wanted to live her life. She was a risk taker and she thirsted for adventure. She satisfied these thirsts by sometimes going on roller coaster rides, climbing to the highest heights she could, and was a skilled rock climber. Even in her accomplishments of being hardcore, one could see the softness in her nature through the talented way her hands gracefully manipulated the strings of the violin to express emotions she could not verbally say. Some people are not made for this world, but Renee was one of those souls who was sent to us to make a lasting impact in our lifetime and beyond. The family of Renee hopes that everyone will join them in celebrating Renee's life whether you knew her very well or not; because if we can learn anything from this experience called life, it is that it should be lived with compassion and unconditional love. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. Cremation will follow and a Memorial Service celebrating Renee's life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Society Hall of Alamosa. Please come not only to heal in grief of a young soul who left us too early, but also to celebrate in the beauty of life that is still worth living. The care of arrangements have been placed in care of Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
