Monica Stephanie Espinoza

January 14, 1959 - November 16, 2020

La Jara resident Monica Stephanie Espinoza, 61, passed away November 16, 2020 at the Penrose Medical Center in Colorado Springs. Monica came into the world on January 14, 1959 in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of Salvador Lucero and Libby Marquez Lucero. She was united in marriage to Leonard Anthony Espinoza on May 28, 1977. The two shared a long and loving union until her passing. Monica devoted her life to caring for her family. Monica was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, crocheting, reading, taking pictures, traveling and listening to oldies music. She was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church. She loved the time she spent with all her granddaughters. Survivors include her loving husband Leonard Espinoza of Sanford, CO; sons Leonard (Misty) Espinoza, Joshua Espinoza, Brian Espinoza all of Sanford, CO; granddaughters Ashley, Brittany, Haley and Jazmine all of Sanford, CO; sisters Tina Sanchez of Colorado Springs, CO; Rosalie Espinoza of Romeo, CO; Angelica (Alfonso) Lopez of Castle Pines, CO; Laurie K. (Raymond) Quintana of Capulin, CO; and one brother Salvador (Rebecca) Lucero of Rio Rancho, NM. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Monica was preceded in death by her parents Salvador and Libby Lucero and one brother Gary Lucero. Cremation was and a Vigil Service with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday June 4, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. To leave online condolences please visit romerofuneralhomes.com.
