Maria "Della" Medina

Alamosa resident Maria "Della" Medina, 93, passed away May 29, 2022 peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side. Born on November 6, 1928 in Antonito, Colorado, the beloved daughter of Candido Ortega and Emma Archuleta. A devoted wife and mother and friend to all. Maria was the rock of her family. She loved cooking big meals and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Maria was also devoted to her faith and love for God. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her daughters Delma (Elevee) Arellano, Mary Jane Medina (Paul Quintana), Linda K. Medina all of Alamosa, CO; sons Jim (Ellen) Medina of Andrews, TX; Larry O. (Constance A.)Medina of Alamosa, CO; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Maria was preceded in death by her parents Candido and Emma Ortega, husband Rosendo Medina, infant son Dean Medina and one brother Manuel Ortega. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 9:30 AM, A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 both at Sacred Heart catholic Church in Alamosa.
