Marcos Gilbert Vigil Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Antonito resident Marcos Gilbert Vigil, 92, departed this life on May 25, 2021 at his home peacefully with his living family by his side. Gilbert was born on August 20, 1928 in San Antonio, Colorado, the beloved son of Jacob Vigil and Anita Martinez Vigil. Marcos devoted his life to being an exceptional provider and caring for his family. He worked for many years as a sheep herder. When he did have free time, Marcos enjoyed going gambling, fishing and taking care of his dogs. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his children Rebecca Vigil of Conejos, CO; Elizabeth Garcia of Denver, CO; Susie Vigil (Alfonso Reteria) of CD. Juarez Chih. MX; Bernice (Manuel) Rodriguez of Sunland Park, NM; Elaine Vigil, Veronica Vigil, Brenda Vigil (Nicholas Mondragon), Vivian Vigil, Bernie (Ida) Vigil all of Antonito, CO; Marcos (Vicki) Vigil of Denver, CO; Gary (Lisa) Vigil of Grand Junction, CO; Raymond (Liz) Vigil of Mogote, CO; Ricky (Merlynn) Vigil, Paul (Tegan) Vigil, Jacob Vigil all of Antonito, CO; 39 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marcos was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Anita Vigil, his loving wife Elsira Vigil, one infant son , one granddaughter Alexandria Mondragon, grandson Eugene Vigil, great-grandsons Chaydin Garcia, Xavier Vigil and all of his brothers and sisters. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 1:30 PM.
