Loyde Andrew Neal

August 16, 1973 - October 1, 2021

Antonito resident Loyde Andrew Neal, 48, passed away October 1, 2021 at the Conejos County Hospital with his loving family by his side. Loyde was born on August 16, 1973 in La Jara, Colorado, the beloved son of Loyde Edgar Neal and Cleotilde Celeste Gurule. Loyde was a very well known and active member of the Antonito community, Loyde owned and operated Helen's Liquor Store, he was a board member of the Antonito Housing Authority and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also very devoted to his faith and was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. When he did find some free time, Loyde loved to go gambling, play poker, go to bingo, go fishing, hunting and was an avid Denver Broncos fan. His greatest joy in life came from the time he was able to spend with his family, nieces, nephews and friends. He was known by his family as their advisor, he was the one to go to for any life advise and when you needed words of wisdom. He liked doing fundraisers and having customer appreciation days at his liquor store. He will live on through his sisters Dianna (Ernest) Marquez of Canon, CO; Darlene Gurule of Taos, NM; Ida (Bernie) Vigil if Antonito, CO; brother Alexander Gutierrez (Kathy Lopez) of Canon, CO; goddaughter Arriana Lujan of Colorado springs, CO; godsons Elias Vigil of Antonito and Mateo Marquez-Harrison of Denver, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Loyde was preceded in death by his parents Loyde Neal Sr. and Cleotilde Gurule, brothers Andy, Philip and Robert Gurule, niece Vanessa Jiron, nephews Matthew Jaramillo, Antonio Marquez and one great-niece Destiny Martinez. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 3:30 PM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date.
