Loyda D. Herrera Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Farmington former Romeo resident Loyda D. Herrera, 80, passed away January 30, 2022. She was born on August 15, 1941 in Romeo, Colorado, the daughter of Eli O. Herrera and Catalina Espinoza Herrera. Loyda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed going to the casino, playing poker, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughters Brenda Smith-Martinez of Farmington, NM; Edith (Solomon) Archuleta of Alamosa, CO; son Rosendo (Caroline) Martinez of Bloomfield, NM; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters Vayola Vigil of Farmington, NM; Ruth (William) Beal of Alamosa, CO; brothers Henry (Eleanor) Herrera of Farmington, NM; and Eli (Mary) Herrera of Aztec, NM. She is also survived by many other extended family members. Loyda was preceded in death by her parents Eli and Catalina Herrera, daughter Bernadette Martinez, son Rick Chavez and sister Lucy Burson. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 1-4 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa.
