Leroy "Mafia" Gonzales

December 14, 1948 - June 13, 2022

San Luis resident Leroy "Mafia" Gonzales, 73, was called home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2022. He passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. He was welcomed into the world on December 14, 1948 in Amalia, New Mexico, the son of Enriques Gonzales and Ursilita Espinoza Gonzales. Leroy enlisted and served in the United States Army. serving during the Vietnam War. Leroy was also a life member of the V.F.W and American Legion. On his free time he was easily found going for cruises in town and playing his guitar. Leroy also enjoyed buying the best cars and watching boxing. He was dedicated to his faith and was a very religious man and loved to spend time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed. He will Live on through his daughters Anatniuq (Jose)Gonzales-Molina of San Pablo, CO; Lena (Michael)Gonzales of Cheyenne, WY; sons Leroy Gonzales Jr. of Cheyenne, WY; Christopher Gonzales (Jennifer Pacheco)of San Luis, CO; grandchildren Leah Gonzales, Alyssa Gonzales, Isaac Gonzales, Enrique Molina-Gonzales, Trinity Gonzales, Jose Julian Molina-Gonzales, Dulce Molina-Gonzales, Ezequiel Gonzales, Katina Gonzales, Favian Molina-Gonzales, Luis Molina-Gonzales, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Jennie Gurule of San Pablo, CO. He is also survived by numerous primos hermanos, nephews and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Enriques and Ursilita Gonzales, granddaughter Serenity Gonzales, baby sister Florence Gonzales and brother-in-law Leo Gurule. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM also at Sangre De Cristo Church. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
