Francisco "Frank" Candido Avila, 77, passed away on December 28, 2020, at the San Luis Care Center due to chronic heart disease. Frank was born on May 12, 1943, in Alamosa, Colorado. Beloved son of Rudolpho Avila and Marina Naranjo Avila. Francisco lived in La Jara, CO, for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. After completing his time in the service, Frank made his way to California. There he met the love of his life, had two daughters, and worked in construction throughout the Bay Area (even helping rebuild the Golden Gate Bridge after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989). He worked hard for many years. Frank was an outgoing, generous, loving man. He was close with family and had many friends. Survivors include his daughters: Veronica Rose Avila, Felicia Louisa McCaffrey, her husband, Jonathan McCaffrey; his grandchildren: Daniel Gomez, Francisco Gomez, and Xocthil Scott. Also, his sister: Juana Avila, and brothers: John Avila, Manuel E. Avila, Robert Avila, and family friend Marco Lazares. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends across both Colorado and California. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Martha Anchundo, his parents Rudolph and Marina Avila. Also, his brothers: Richard Avila, Leonicio Avila, Jose Avila, Greg Avila, half-sister Genevieve Rogers, his step-son, Eddie X. Ramirez, and his Granddaughter, Melia Gomez. Francisco was a man of faith. He accepted death as a part of his life’s journey. His soul is with God and the angels. Rest in Peace, Francisco, (also known as Dad, Grandpoo, Quackie, Brother, Nino, Uncle Frank), we love you and we miss you already! Services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa, Co. Rosary at 9:30 AM and 10 AM for the funeral mass. Burial to follow. *For everyone’s safety during these very unique times, public health restrictions will apply; including social distancing, masks must be worn at all times, no gathering outside of the church before or after the services, and seating is limited to no more than 40 persons.
