Federico Leonard Martinez

Alamosa resident Federico "Leonard" Martinez, 75, passed away February 4, 2021 at the Conejos County Hospital with his loving family by his side. Federico was born on June 18, 1945 in Amalia, New Mexico, the beloved son of Jose Basilio Martinez and Victoria Elena Tafoya Martinez. Leonard was talented and skilled working with his hands. He worked doing auto body repair for many years. Leonard was a kind and compassionate father, companion, grandfather, great-grandfather, godfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going fishing, going for walks, and spending time with his entire family as well as his friends. Survivors include his daughters Lezli Martinez of Antonito, CO; Victoria (Paulino)Vazquez of Gilcrest, CO; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, one godson Federico Leonard Martinez, sisters Francella Martinez, Betty Martinez both of Alamosa, CO; Nancy (William) Vialpando of Broomfield, CO; Bernice Lopez of Brighton, CO; brothers George (Patsy) Martinez of Golden, CO; Rudy (Carol) Martinez of Brighton, CO; partner Lucy Reyes of Alamosa, CO; He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Victoria Martinez, brothers Tony Martinez, Basilio Martinez, Tino Martinez, sisters Irene Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, grandson Kaleb Martinez, granddaughter Melody Joy Martinez. Viewing and visitation will be February 6, 2021 from 4-6 at the Romero Funeral Chapel, in Alamosa. Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa with limited seating due to COVID restrictions.
