Eva M. Garcia

Monte Vista resident Eva Garcia, 84, departed this life on May 9, 2022. She passed away peacefully at her home with her loving children and grandchildren by her side. She was welcomed into the world on February 8, 1938 in Monte Vista, the beloved daughter of Emelio Ted Garcia and Mary Vera Maes Garcia. Eva was well known and loved in the community for her contagious laughter and her big heart. She was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed taking trips to the casino and going to bingo. Eva made it her life's work to care for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her daughter Janice (Ray) Medina of Monte Vista, CO; sons Gary Salazar of Monte Vista, CO; Christopher Salazar of Alamosa, CO; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends. Eva was preceded in death by her parents Milo and Mary Garcia, son Eli Mel Salazar, daughter Carol Lynn Salazar and son-in-law Gary Andres Padilla. A Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date.
