Elipio Chacon

July 21, 1935 - March 11, 2022

86 year old longtime Romeo resident, Elipio Chacon Sr., passed away March 11, 2022 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. He was born on July 21, 1935 in Los Rincones, Colorado, to Encarnacion and Crotilde Chacon. Elipio Married his wife Cirila Lujan on December 10, 1956. They were happily married for 65 years. Elipio worked many years in farming and for many years for the Conejos County Road and Bridge. He is survived by his loving wife Cirila, seven children Encarnacion "Goy" Chacon of Romeo, CO; Frances Gonzales of Romeo, CO; Ruby (Carlos) Martinez of Gypsum, CO; Elipio Chacon Jr., of Romeo, CO; Guadalupe Chacon of Romeo, CO; Stephanie (Travis) Misch of Eagle, CO; Felicia (Alberto) Rodriguez of Romeo, CO. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two siblings Sylvia (Joe) Baroz of La Jara, CO; Eddie (Cecilia) Chacon of Romeo, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elipio was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Ronnie Gonzales, two grandchildren River and Elishia Chacon, brothers Orlando (Tina) Chacon, Adelmo (Josie) Chacon, sisters Eufelia (Solomon) Garcia, Mary (Berlie) Martinez and Benita (Gilbert) Garcia. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Capulin. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Jara. Interment will follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa.
