Dyami Brandon Maestas

July 25, 1984 - February 8, 2020

Colorado Springs Former San Luis resident Dyami Brandon Maestas, 35, went peacefully to his eternal rest on February 8, 2020 after a long battle with his Type 1 diabetes. Dyami was born on July 25, 1984 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Huberto J. Maestas and Dana Valdez Maestas. After graduating from Sierra Grande High School in 2003, he went on to attend the Colorado Art Institute where he excelled at his studies in the Culinary Arts field. After completing school he worked at many different restaurants on the 16th Street Mall in Denver. Dyami was an exceptional and fun loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed cooking, playing video games, attending cosplay conventions, watching anime, and designing and making costumes and accessories for himself and other cosplay friends. He was a very artistic creative person who loved sculpting, experimenting with recipes and making delicious meals. He made the best homemade Mac and cheese and his specialty was menudo. He loved spending time with his niece, nephews, friends and family. He will live on through his parents Huberto and Dana Maestas of San Luis, CO; sister Bianca Maestas (Sergey Bagdasrov) of Denver, CO/Twin Falls, ID; brothers Derrick Maestas (Genelle Benker) of Seattle, WA; Aubin Maestas of Alamosa, CO; niece Soleil Maestas, Nephews Amyas Maestas and Cypress Maestas, his best friend since grade school and roommate Allen Crow of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dyami was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Evan and Louisa Valdez, paternal grandparents Donald and Olivia Maestas, uncle Matthew Lynn Valdez, cousins Adrianna Luz Valdez and Thalia Feliz Garcia. A Vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Memorial Mass will follow at 1:30 PM. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
