Duvie Martinez

Longtime Manassa resident Duvie M. Martinez, 88, went home to be with the Lord and be re-united with her husband, daughter and sister on June 28, 2022. She passed away peacefully at her home under Hospice Care with her loving family by her side. Duvie was welcomed into the world on February 25, 1934. She was born in Lobatos, Colorado, the daughter of Delfino Pacheco and Amada Garcia Pacheco. After graduating high school, she ventured into the jeweler making business for some years and eventually made her way into doing what she loved which was caring for others and did home health care. She was united in marriage to Alfred G. Martinez and January 7, 1956. The two shared a happy and loving union until his passing in 2009. Duvie was a member of the League De Fatima of St. Theresa Parish. On her free time she enjoyed gardening, helping and caring for other people as well as attending bingo. She cherished and loved the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren. Duvie will always be remembered for her contagious laugh and outgoing personality. She and her late sister Cordy were a dynamic duo. The two orneriest and funny ladies one ever did meet. They could make a joke out of just about anything and could always cheer a person up. Duvie was very loved and will be dearly missed. Duvie was preceded in death by her parents Delfino and Amada Pacheco, husband Alfred G. Martinez, daughter Kris Ann Martinez, sister Cordy Martinez, brothers Delfino and Phillip Pacheco. Her legacy will live on through her daughters Debbie (Richard)Martinez-Goodwill of Denver, CO; Mattie Martinez of Denver, CO; Clara Martinez (Donald Cantu) of Manassa, CO; sons Gilbert Martinez of Taos, NM; Fred P. (Carol) Martinez of Manassa, CO; sisters Vickie (Jimmy) Alire of Antonito, CO; Phyliss (Alvedo) Pacheco of Lobatos, CO; brothers Donald (Dolores) Pacheco of Albuquerque, NM, and Raymond Pacheco of Del Norte, CO. She is also survived by numerous other extended family members. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 10:00 AM.
