Cordelia “Cordy” Mary Martinez It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, we the family of Cordy Martinez announce her passing on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Our adored Cordy gained her angel wings surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81. Cordy was born on March 10, 1940, to Delfino and Amanda Pacheco. She was the third of eight children and grew up in Lobatos. She was a very loving mother to Wilfred, Sophie, and Donney. She loved travelling, so much so, she lived in places such as Sacramento, Leadville, Fountain, Manassa, Glenwood Springs, Silt, Rifle, and Carbondale. Cordy loved her cats: Patches, Cupcake, and Goldie and her dogs, Bear and Ruckus whom she called “Baby” most recently. Cordy is a beautiful soul and was a friend to EVERYONE; she was the life of the party. She loved cooking, sewing, dancing, jewelry making, arts and crafts, fishing, camping and the time spent with her cherished family. Cordy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sophie and Donald Lucero; her son and daughter-in-law; Donney and Wanda Martinez; and her ex-husband and dear friend, Alfred Martinez. She has five grandchildren: Angel Lucero, Michelle (Zack Muñiz) Martinez, Johnny (Beatrice) Lucero, Antonio (Cindy) Martinez, and Wilfred (Angelica) Martinez. Cordy’s family grew with eighteen Great grandchildren: Daniel (Aspen Rivera) Vigil, Dominic (Alexis Rodriguez) Mascarenas, Izak (Carley) Muñiz, Michelle (Noah) Trujillo, Marissa (Jeremiah) Trujillo, Trinity Lucero, Shea (Aaliyah) Vega, Bethany Abeyta, Deondra Martinez, Brennan Vega, Kiana Muñiz, Izabel Lucero, Brianna Martinez, Kylene Muñiz, Shante Gonzales, Dominic and Derrick Lucero and Neveah Martinez; and a month ago she became a Great-great Grandma to Leo Muñiz. Cordy is also survived by her siblings; Donald (Dolores) Pacheco, Duvie Martinez, Vickie (Jimmy) Alire, Phyllis Pacheco, Raymond Pacheco, and her sisters-in-law: Roberta Pacheco and Trini Pacheco. She also has three very special friends that will miss her as much as her family will: Juana Maestas, Debbie Lopez, and Rainie Owsley. Furthermore, Cordy leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews who will additionally miss her spunk. Cordy was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her beloved son, Wilfred Martinez; both of her parents, Delfino and Amanda Pacheco; her two brothers, Phillip Pacheco and Delfino Pacheco; and her grandson, James Lucero. Cordy was a woman of God; she was quick, witty and sincere; she will be immensely missed. There will be a rosary at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Conejos, Colorado on Thursday December 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. We will celebrate Cordy’s life on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Conejos, Colorado at 11:00 a.m. with a burial to follow at The New Manassa Cemetery in Manassa, Colorado.
