Adelina "Addie" Barela

September 20, 1930 - August 24, 2021

San Luis resident Adeline "Addie" Barela, passed away August 24, 2021. Addie was born on September 20, 1930 in San Luis, Colorado, the daughter of Eutimio Maez and Adelina Sanchez Maez. Addie was united in marriage to the love of her life Amadeo Barela on November 14, 1949. They shared a long and loving union until his passing. She worked as a physical therapist for many years until she was able to retire and spend time with her loving family and friends. Addie was a proud member of the Sacred Heart Society, the Carmelitas as well as the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed dancing, singing, going shopping and spending time with all of her grandchildren. An exceptional, devoted and loving woman, Addie leaves behind her daughter Goldie (Dewayne) Hendriex of Altos, OK; sons Ben (Ann) Barela of New York, Jim (Lawrel) Barela of Albuquerque, NM; Gerard (JoAnne) Barela of Albuquerque, NM; 7 grandchildren, numerous great and great-grandchildren, sisters Susie (Phil) Fields of Omaha, NB; Dottie "Lynn" Carson of Gilette, WY; Mary Lou (Art) Brito of Albuquerque, NM; Evelyn (Ron) Timm of Billings, MT; Gidget (Grant) Harding of Denver, CO; brothers Gap (Elise) Maez of Denver, CO; Bert Maez, Bill (jean) Maez both of Albuquerque, NM; Tim (Judy) Maez of Denver, CO; Wilfred (Alice) Maez of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Addie was preceded in death by her parents husband Amadeo Barela. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 AM also at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church. Interment will be held at the San Luis Cemetery.
