Nicolas Martinez

Alamosa – Our beloved Nicolas “Nick” G. Martinez Jr., 88, was called home on November 10, 2023, who was surrounded by his loving family who never left his side. Nicolas was welcomed into the world on June 9, 1935 to the late Nicolas Martinez Sr. and Isabel Sandoval Martinez. After his school years Nick joined the Army and served his country with pride. When Nick returned home, he found the love of his life and was united in marriage to Baldina Atencio on September 7, 1957 in Alamosa, CO they were blessed with 66 years of marriage. The two were blessed with three children, two daughters and one son. Nicolas was a member of the American Legion Dickey Springer Post, the VFW, and Knights of Columbus. Nick loves to go hunting and fishing and the time he spent in the mountains. He also enjoyed traveling, dancing, shooting, boxing, and going gambling. But his favorite pastime was the time he spent with his loving family. His legacy will live on through his loving wife Baldina “Dina” Martinez of the family home, two daughters; Helen (Cruz) Barajas of Denver, CO, Cindy (Dennis) Milosavich of Buena Vista, CO, and daughter-in-law Dorothy Martinez of Pueblo, CO. Grandchildren; Isaac Milosavich, Brandi Badger, Ronnie Martinez, Rhonda Alameda, Jenniffer Martinez, CJ Barajas, Ebony Atencio, sister-in-law Ailene (Freddy) Arsaga, brother-in-law’s; Gabe Atencio, Gary Atencio, nephews; Adrian (Vera) Martinez, David (Sharon) Delgado, Aaron Atencio, Mike Atencio, Bobby Arsaga, Marvin Arsaga, David, Arsaga, Nicky Martinez, Ricky Martinez Jr., nieces; Leticia, Shiela, Michelle, and Lorrie,Dorthy. Nick will be truly missed by all who knew him. Nick was preceded in death by his parents Nicolas and Isabel Martinez, son Ron Martinez, brothers; Daniel Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, Charlie Martinez, Freddie Martinez, sisters; Alma Martinez, Phyllis, Urseila, Florinda, Ruby, Tina, Matilda. Services for Nicolas will be held on December 9, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa with the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 10:00 AM and the Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10:30 AM. With full Military Honors. The care of arrangements has been entrusted to Romero Valley Funeral Home of Alamosa.
