Miguel Alfonso Vigil

Miguel Alfonso (Poncho) Vigil was born on December 4, 1939 in San Luis, Colorado to Fermin Vigil and Beatrice Vigil and passed away in Alamosa, Colorado on October 3,2021. Born and raised in San Luis along with his nine siblings, Bertha (Levi) Roybal, Sister Helen, Inez (John) Serrano, Mary (Tom) Rodriguez, Lucille (George) Rodriguez, Rita (Moises) Lobato, Modesto (Neomi) Vigil, Helen (Leroy) Vigil and Arnold Vigil. When he was very young he was drafted to the U.S. Army, where he served with great honor. The endless stories of his adventures while he was stationed in Germany will forever remain in our hearts. Before he left to the Army he married his first wife, Mary Ann Vigil (Rodriguez) whose life sadly ended on October 14, 1973. They had two daughters, Vivian (Javier) Canales, and Thelma (Guillermo) Hernandez. After his loss, God blessed him with his second love who remained by his side to the end. Miguel Alfonso Vigil and Elva Rumilda Vigil (Acosta) were married on June 15, 1974 and formed a family with their daughters Castorina (Tom) Gilmartin and Jazmin (Tom) Vigil along with his two other daughters. Our father lived his life giving and spreading love and the word of God and for our Blessed Mother. He was a man with strong faith and so much love for his wife, children,grandchildren and great grandchildren. The grandchildren are Javier, Christopher,Fernando, Miguel, Maria Anjelica, Silvia, Jose Antonio, Thomas, Regis, Christopher,Mathias, Gabriel, Castorina and Trinity and great grandchildren, Christopher, Alekzander, Denise, Mariana, Alan, Yareli and Ejay Alfonso. Miguel was preceded in death by both his parents and his sisters Bertha and Inez and his first wife Mary Ann Vigil. Miguel is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers,sisters and many nieces and nephews who he loved so dearly and always gave them a warm hug that will never erase from their hearts. Miguel was always a very hardworking individual that was never too tired to work. He loved having his favorite ice cream and being with his family. Services will be as follows: Rosary Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:00 am and the mass will follow at 10:30 AM Sangre de Cristo Parish. We are requesting that all our loved ones wear a mask and please continue social distancing. Burial services will follow at the San Acacio Community Cemetery.
