Mary Louise Garcia February 7, 1945 – September 4, 2026 Beloved wife, mother, aunt, and friend, Mary Louise Garcia passed away peacefully at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born in Alamosa, Colorado, to Luis and Mary Martinez, she was one of five siblings and cherished her San Luis Valley roots throughout her life. Mary Louise grew up in Alamosa—the place she always called home. On September 19, 1964, she married Tony Garcia, of Mogote, Colorado. Together they welcomed two children, Anthony and Jeanine, both born in the valley. During the 1980s, the family moved to Colorado Springs after living in Walsenburg and Florence, Colorado. Mary Louise loved her family deeply. She found joy in decorating, cooking, crafting with her children, fishing, traveling, and welcoming friends and relatives into her home. She worked for many years in the aerospace industry, but her greatest vocation was being a loving and devoted mother. Mary Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Mary Martinez, her sister Pauline Dixon, and her brother Lenny Martinez. Her in-laws are Felix and Sofia Garcia, Lita and John Gallegos, Margie Garcia, Julia and Gilbert Gallegos, Margaret Garcia, and Archie Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Tony Garcia of Colorado Springs; her children, Anthony of Rancho Mirage, California, and Jeanine (David Curtis) of Englewood, Colorado; her brother Billy (Siria) Martinez of Alamosa and their children, Alma of Alamosa, Felicia of Colorado Springs; her sister Patti (Art) Ortiz of Alamosa and their son Patrick of Monte Vista. She is also survived by Pauline’s daughters—Vicki Crabbe of Grand Junction, Colorado; Catherine Thompson of Scottsdale, Arizona; Judie Carlson of Spokane, Washington; and Paula Hill of Albuquerque, New Mexico—as well as Lenny’s children, Leonard Jr. of Syracuse, New York, and Laura Martinez of Denver, Colorado. Additional surviving family members include James Garcia of Antonito, Colorado; Orlinda (Robert) Taylor of Antonito, Colorado; John Garcia of Mogote, Colorado; and Margaret Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is also lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A Recitation of the Rosary and reception will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 5:00 p.m. 927 N Logan Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa, Colorado.
