Lorenzo Lujan

It is with heavy hearts we would like to announce the passing of Lorenzo Lujan, age 74. Lorenzo Lujan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23 at the hospital in La Jara, Colorado. Lorenzo was born on June 26, 1951 to Maria Ursina and Juan Martinez, both of whom proceeded him in death. Lorenzo is also proceeded in death by his sister Candy Duran and brother Vivian Jose Lujan, and his nephew Jojo Duran. Lorenzo proudly served for his country in the United States Army but after completing his time in the Army he found himself missing the military life so he went on to serve in the National Guard. Following his retirement from the military he wanted to keep busy so he became the owner and operator off the Trading Post store here in Antonito. But the most heartfelt and cherished role he had was being a grandpa. He took pride in being a grandpa and if you knew Lorenzo that was his number one job in life. If you didn’t find Lorenzo hauling wood, playing bingo, or gambling then he was traveling somewhere but probably to Las Vegas. His favorite thing was to spend time with his granddaughters and great grandson. Lorenzo’s life is defined by service, generosity, and taking care of others. He was a caretaker by nature and a giver at heart, always willing to help those around him without hesitation. He will be remembered for his strength, devotion to family, and his quiet love he showed through his actions everyday. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he cared for so deeply. He is survived by his sons Lawrence Lujan and Noel Lujan; his beloved granddaughters Shaniece Lujan (Greg Martinez), Shanell Lujan (Johnathon Martinez), and Alannah Lujan; his treasured great grandchildren Valerie, Zayden, and Lexani. Also by his siblings Angela Duran, Audrey Hicks, Ricky Lujan (Cordy Lujan),and many nephews and nieces. A rosary will be held on Friday January 2,2026 at 6pm at the Sagrada Família Mission church in Lobatos, CO. A mass will be held on January 3,2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Conejos, CO, with a dinner to follow the burial at the Lobatos/ La Florida cemetery.
