Jesse Mondragon

Antonito resident Jesse Mondragon, 57, was called home to be with the Lord, after a very short battle with cancer. He passed away on October 11, 2023 at Parkview Medical Center surrounded by his loving family by his side. Jesse was welcomed into the world on June 23, 1966 in La Jara, Colorado, the beloved son of Rose Mendoza (Arthur Mendoza) and John Mondragon. Jesse was raised by Bernadette Jaquez (Jesus Jaquez). Jesse was a devoted Father to his son Brian Mondragon and also a devoted Best Friend to Robert Johnson, he was also a selfless and loving brother, uncle and friend. Jesse enjoyed playing bingo, watching volleyball, supporting his young family at all sporting events. He had a love for Spanish music, he enjoyed attending concerts, and loved to see Sparks and Lorenzo Antonio in concert, it was his yearly tradition to see them. Jesse had a special love for his Aunts Theresa Trujillo and Sandra Hernandez, he also cherished the time he spent with his loving family and friends. Jesse will be sadly missed, and live on by his Special Friend Robert Johnson, his sisters Brenda (Emery) Lucero, Patricia Gurule, Donna Mendoza, Mary (Carlos) Lopez, Naomi Mendoza, Amanda Mendoza, Lulu Trujillo, Elaine (Felix) Casados, his brothers Nicolas (Brenda) Mondragon, Gerald (Rita) Lobato, Gabriel (Barbara) Lobato, Don Mendoza, Manuel (Nereida) Jaquez, Lewis Jaquez, Step-son Julio Medina, Special Aunts Theresa (Phillip) Trujillo, and Sandra Hernandez, Special Uncle Wayne (Nichole) Trujillo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents John Mondragon, Rose and Arthur Mendoza, and Bernadette Jaquez, his Son Brian Mondragon, Grandmother Adela Trujillo, Brother David Floyd, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held on October 15, 2023 from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the Romero Chapel in Antonito, Rosary will be held on Sunday October 15, 2023 at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday October 16, 2023 at 11:00am also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
