Greg Martinez May 9, 1979 - August 7, 2026 Greg Martinez, a beloved fiancé, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at the age of 47. He was born on May 9, 1979, in La Jara, Colorado, to Harold L. Martinez and Cecilia J. Martinez. Greg was a man who found joy in the simple things in life and, most importantly, in the people he loved. He completed his education through the 12th grade and went on to create a life centered around his family, his passions, and the many people who held a special place in his heart. Greg had a natural curiosity and a love for working with his hands. He enjoyed anything and everything involving mechanics, always finding interest in how things worked and how they could be fixed. Fishing was another one of his favorite pastimes, giving him the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, relax, and make memories. He also enjoyed coloring, especially during the quieter moments he shared with those around him. Above all else, Greg loved his family. His children and grandchildren were among the greatest joys of his life. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with them and took great pride in watching them grow. His love for his children and grandchildren was something that could be seen in the way he spoke about them, cared for them, and treasured the memories they created together. Greg also had a great appreciation for good food. He never turned down a favorite meal and especially enjoyed sweets and candy. These little things brought him happiness and became part of the everyday memories his loved ones will forever carry with them. One of the greatest loves of Greg’s life was his fiancée, Christina “Tina” Velasquez. The two shared a special bond and were looking forward to continuing their lives together. Tina was not only his fiancée, but his companion, his love, and an important part of his life. Their love and the memories they shared will remain a treasured part of Greg’s story. Greg will be deeply missed by his fiancée, Christina “Tina” Velasquez; his daughters, Soraya Martinez and Nylean Llanez; his sons, Greg Martinez Jr., Anthony Llanez, and Abel Llanez; and his grandchildren, Valerie Lujan and Zayden Martinez. He is also survived by his sisters, Pauline Martinez and Patricia (Andrew) Gallegos, along with Patricia’s children, Andrew Jr., and Joey; his brothers, Richard Martinez, along with Suzana, Nate, and Lyndi, and Anthony Martinez, along with Michelle, Anthony Jr., Christopher, Brianna, and Ethan; his nieces, Tanya and Tammy Sandoval, who were more like sisters to him. His fiancée’s sisters, Ana Velasquez and Kimberly Rivera, along with Thaddeus; his fiancée’s brother, Larry Velasquez; and his fiancée’s mother, Isabelle Velasquez. Greg is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Shaniece Lujan; his special friend, Ames Sisneros, who was more like a brother to him; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever remember the love, laughter, and memories they shared with him. Greg was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harold L. Martinez and Cecilia J. Martinez; his beloved brother Harold Martinez Jr.; and his niece, Kriste Gallegos. Greg’s passing leaves a tremendous emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Yet, while his loved ones mourn his absence, they can find comfort in the memories he left behind—the laughter, the stories, the family gatherings, the fishing trips, the conversations, the meals shared, and all of the little moments that made Greg who he was. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family deeply, enjoyed the things that brought him happiness, and treasured the people closest to him. His memory will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends, who will carry a piece of him in their hearts wherever life takes them. Though Greg is no longer here to make new memories, the memories he gave his loved ones will never fade.
