Eugene Ernest Archuleta

Eugene Ernest Archuleta, 73, of Antonito, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. He was born on September 27, 1952, in Lobatos, Colorado, to Esequiel and Celia Archuleta. Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a decorated veteran who carried that sense of duty and strength throughout his life. Following his service, he was a jack of all trades, with skills ranging from carpentry to welding. Eugene had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He found joy in the simple things, like going for a drive or taking a cruise anywhere, as long as he was spending time with those he cared about. Above all, Eugene loved his family. He was a very loving man, and that love was something everyone could feel the moment they met him. Eugene will be remembered for his quiet strength, his humor, and the unwavering support he gave to his family and friends. He is survived by his siblings: Mercy Jaramillo, Lucy Sisneros, Michael Archuleta, Brenda DeHerrera, and Joseph Archuleta (Sanda Archuleta); his children: Craig Cisneros (Veronica Cisneros), Nicole Romero (Daniel Romero), Daniel Archuleta, and Christina Montoya (Frank Montoya); 17 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters in-laws, Vangie Archuleta, Laura Archuleta; daughter in-law Melinda DeHerrera. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esequiel Archuleta Sr. and Celia Archuleta; his siblings, Esequiel Archuleta Jr., Julio Archuleta, Patsy Atencio, and Maryann Archuleta; his son, Neil DeHerrera; his nieces, Lisa and Celeste Sisneros; and his brothers-in-law, Abe Jaramillo and Faustino Sisneros. A rosary will be held on April 6, 2026, at 10:30 AM, and a funeral at 11:00, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 6633 County Road 13, Antonito, CO 81120, followed by burial with military honors at La Florida/Lobatos Cemetery, 17241 County Road G, Antonito, CO 81120.
