Elsie A. Gallegos, 94, slipped into the arms of Jesus on October 31, 2021, with her family by her side. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jasper Gallegos; daughter, Rosalia Gallegos; grandsons, Damian Miramontes and Dominic Miramontes; in-laws, Porfirio and Amada Gallegos; siblings, Adelina (Frank) Garcia, Sara (Lucien) Martinez, Matias (Josephine) Gomez, Dora (Jose) Candelaria, Alberto (Fedelina) Gomez, Elviria (Lucas) Cordova and Ubaldo (Joyce) Gomez; sister-in-law, Oralia Gallegos; and brothers-in-law, Claudio Ramirez and Luciano Gallegos. She is survived by her children, Lenora (Eddie) Tayler, Juanita Gallegos, Rosemary (Jose) Miramontes and Danny “Porfie” (Veronica) Gallegos; grandchildren, Becky (Rick) Jamieson, Michael (Maggie) Tayler, Charles Tayler, Corinne Tayler (Les Williams), Rachel (Bobby) Vigil, Stephanie (Dale) Roybal, Connie Medina, Joel (Molly) Miramontes, Daniel (Tasha) Miramontes, Angel Miramontes, Daisy (Joey) Baca, Crystal (Armando) Bolanos and Danny Jr. (Erica) Gallegos; great-grandchildren, Jaclynn Jamieson, Michael Jr. (Jamie) Tayler, Erika Tayler, Ashlie Williams, Leilani Williams, Providence (Josh) Lively, Nathaniel Gee, Elizabeth Gee (Ben Howard), Dale Roybal, Jr., Kalie Roybal, Joseph Roybal, Stephen (Bertha) Barela, Ally Barela, Devon Miramontes, Destiny Miramontes, Ezmeralda Miramontes, Clarissa (Juan) Majalca, Daniel Miramontes, Jr., Jensiah Miramontes, Uriah Miramontes, Joey (Alexa) Baca, Mateo Baca, Isabella Baca, Armani Baca, Chanel Baca, Victoria Bolanos, Armando Bolanos, Jr., Danny Gallegos, III, Juliana Gallegos and Romeo Gallegos; great-great grandchildren, Mikey Tayler, Rosalie Tayler, Leonardo Tayler, Analia Barela, Mia Majalca, Isabella Majalca, Antonio Baca and one on the way; sister, Floraida Ramirez; sister-in-law, Josie Gallegos; special “grandson,” Carl Barela; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Elsie was born to Jesus Maria and Francesquita (Lucero) Gomez on March 19, 1927, in Capulin, Colo. and lived in Monte Vista. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, playing the guitar, singing, going for drives, shopping, and visiting and spending time with all of her family. Elsie loved having a house full of family and friends. She would say, “The more, the better.” Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a true woman of God. She loved the Lord and was always up to an impromptu family worship sing along or Bible study. Else, Mom and Grandma Elsie was a very special woman. She was strong, gentle, generous, hardworking and loved her family deeply. How lucky we were to have someone in our lives that makes saying “Goodbye” so hard. We will miss her every day and she will never be forgotten. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at River Valley Nursing Inn Nursing Home Del Norte, especially Bernadette, for the loving care given to Elsie and the family during her stay with them.
