Dana R. Crawford

ana Rene' Crawford, beloved spouse, mother, and grandmother, returned to her heavenly home on August 3rd, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. She was a cherished wife, a devoted mother, a dedicated teacher, and a respected leader in her local community and church. Dana was born on April 28th, 1958 in Del Norte, Colorado to Franklin Jay and Luella Christensen of La Jara, Colorado. She was sealed for time and all eternity to Bryan Dwaine Crawford on January 10, 1986 in the Jordan River Utah Temple. Dana resided in Rye, Colorado. From an early age, Dana exhibited a natural inclination towards nurturing and caring for others. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served a mission for the church in Auckland, New Zealand. She served in many callings including Family History Consultant, Primary President, Stake Young Women’s President, a bishop’s wife, and currently Stake Relief Society Secretary. Dana was a respiratory therapist until she became a mother. She wanted to spend her days in the home with her children as a homemaker. Dana spent 17 years at Rye Elementary School as a volunteer literacy mentor. Dana's true passion was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to her spouse. She provided unwavering support and encouragement to her husband and children. Dana's loving guidance shaped the lives of her children and helped them become the individuals they are today. Dana worked her entire life on family history through keeping detailed journals and working on various family history projects and supporting others doing family history work. As a grandmother, Dana enjoyed watching her family grow and flourish together. Her grandchildren brought immense happiness to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, showering them with unconditional love and wisdom. Dana's contributions extended beyond her immediate family; she was a true pillar of strength and inspiration within her community. Dana's faith was the core essence of her being, guiding her actions and spreading kindness to all who crossed her path. The way she endured her health trials; surviving breast cancer, diabetes and enduring the complications of ALS was an inspiration and testament to all. She never forgot her faith, her love, and her devotion to the Savior Jesus Christ. The impact of Dana's life will forever be imprinted on the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memories will be forever treasured by her spouse, children, grandchildren, and dear friends. Her legacy of love, devotion, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire countless others. Dana is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and brother. She is survived by her husband Bryan, her children Shiloh (Megan) Crawford of Rigby, ID; Jadi (Brian) Hancock of Grantsville, UT; and Hillary (Phillip) Miller of Thistle, UT; and her grandchildren Maci & Addilee Crawford; Joshua, Levi, Tyler, & Elizabeth Hancock; and Emily & Samantha Miller. Let us honor Dana's memory by embracing the lessons she taught us: to approach life with kindness, to love unconditionally, and to pass on her legacy and the love of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 7th, 2023 in Rye, Colorado at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 9:30AM.
