Cynthia Pacheco

Manassa resident Cynthia Pacheco, 62, passed away June 8, 2023 at Penrose Hospital, Colorado Spring, peacefully surrounded by her family. Cynthia was born on October 17, 1960, in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of Andy Martinez and Vidella Martinez. After graduating from Centauri 1979 high school, Cynthia became a CNA for over 30 years. She worked for At Home Health, North Conejos School District, Conejos County Hospital and homecare for many over the years. Cynthia was passionate about taking care of her family especially her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Cynthia also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, gambling, dancing and spending time with her family. Her spirit will live on through her mother, Vidella Martinez Manassa CO, daughters, Jennifer Pacheco and Alicia Pacheco both of Manassa, CO; grandchildren, whom she raised, Mario (Nicci Sandoval) Ortega, Vaida (Pascual “Chico” Mateo, Daivina Ortega, Athena Silva, Kane Trujillo, and Abel Trujillo all of Manassa CO, great-grandchildren, Izlarie Ortega and Valentino Ortega of Manassa CO, step-children Lawrence (Nicole) Atencio, Charles Frank (Patty) Atencio Jr., Brad Scott (Mariah) Atencio, brothers David (Sofie) Martinez of Idaho and Gabe (Roselie Schlaufman) Martinez of Manassa CO, sisters Pam (Randall) Martinez of Capulin, CO; Darlene (Marvin) Trujillo of Antonito, CO; Wanda Romero of Avon, CO; Dale (LuLu) Martinez of Blanca, CO; Virginia Espinoza of Leadville, CO; sister in law, Linda Atencio, Antonito; brother in law Ted (Liz) Atencio of Littleton, CO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father Andy Martinez, her partner of 22 years Charles “Chuck” Atencio, ex-husband James Pacheco, brother Jimmy Martinez, brother-in-law Joe Romero, nephews Chase and Jameson Martinez, niece DeAnna Romero, sister-in-law Monica Martinez, Josh Maez nephew. Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, June 16 at 11:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Los Cerritos Cemetery.
